The orange markings on our sidewalks show vertical gaps that require repair by the City.
Maintenance standards set by the Province (O.Reg. 366/18) require the City to inspect all sidewalks annually and repair the gaps exceeding 2 centimetres (0.75 inches). The City logs the gaps and crews, or contractors, are assigned to the repair. Typical repair strategies include cold mixing, cutting the ledge, slab jacking or replacing the sidewalk.
